As students, we always had to create very personal projects, in which we had to experiment with a wide range of fabrics and textures. During those times, I was very passionate about philosophical aspects of life. I had recently come across the book of Milan Kundera, ''The Unbearable Lightness of Being'', which has as main subject Friedrich Nietzsche's concept of eternal recurrence. I quickly became obsessed about the idea that the universe and its events have already happened, so we are doomed to repeat our existence again and again for infinity. On the other side of this story, I noticed that despite our destiny, we can find happiness in the repetition of every day life.
Life in paradise is not s straight line that goes to unknown, but a circle of well-known things.
Taking this inspiration, I translated the concept of repetition and time in shapes and the sheer feeling of infinity in textiles. Hand-pleated silk chiffon (dress) & cotton twill mixed with poly organza (blazer).
Name of the project: Limitless Lightness of Being
